On Thursday, May 17, 2018 the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut (CGC) was one of 80 local non-profit organizations to receive funding from New Canaan Community Foundation. The $16,600 grant will support CGC’s services for children who are struggling with issues like depression, anxiety, abuse, or suicidal thoughts.

The awards were announced at The Foundation’s annual ceremony where a total of $650,000 was distributed among organizations that provide critical human services, arts, culture & community resources, youth services & education, and healthcare, as well as senior and special needs services.

“We are grateful for the generosity of the Foundation and all of the New Canaan families that support its work,” said CGC’s President and CEO, Eliot Brenner, PhD. “The continued partnership of local community foundations that truly understand the impact of our work with children and their families is deeply meaningful.   The New Canaan Community Foundation has been an important supporter for many years.  It plays an essential role in our ability to meet the critical need for children’s mental and behavioral health services in our community.”

“The Foundation is pleased to fund CGC,” said Lauren Patterson, The Foundation’s president, and CEO.  “We know that by providing early diagnosis and immediate access to mental health care, CGC greatly mitigates the likelihood of lasting mental and physical consequences for children.  By supporting targeted, high impact programs like CGC’s, the Foundation is able to move the needle on many of the issues our community faces.”
